It’s fantastic to see our vaccination rollout continue its amazingly successful path – at the time of writing, over 32,500 people in South Northamptonshire have received at least one dose.

Testing plays a vital role in tackling the spread of Coronavirus, and I recently visited the brand new Testing Centre at the Danes Camp Leisure Centre, in Hunsbury. Here you can walk in and get an immediate test for COVID if you are asymptomatic - it only takes a few minutes. Simply register on the way in, and receive your results just over half an hour later.  I tried it out - it was quick, easy and painless.

I know we are all so looking forward to being able to return to sports activities, so I also had a quick look around at the great swimming facilities, as well as the excellent gym!  Do check out the Danes Camp centre for the much awaited return to fun leisure activities...

Each spring I start the search for my new apprentice – and here we are again.  This is a one year apprenticeship scheme for a local school leaver to gain experience in a busy MP’s constituency office whilst also studying for an NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration. As an integral part of Team Leadsom, my Apprentice Caseworker is responsible for helping with constituents’ questions about different policies, as well as dealing with some of the correspondence I receive each day.

The role is full time and lasts for twelve months from August to July. Although based in Towcester, there are regular opportunities to work in Westminster and to get fully involved in all aspects of parliamentary life.

If you are interested in the role please contact Maggie in my constituency office on 01327 353124 or email andrea.leadsom.mp@parliament.uk. Head to my Facebook page (facebook.com/andrealeadsom) to watch a video with my current apprentice Olivia and previous apprentice Jake to hear their thoughts on the role and their experience.

Great news for Northamptonshire is that there will be more police on the beat thanks to additional investment from the Government. Northamptonshire Police will have a further 130 police officers over the next 2 years, joining neighbourhood teams across the county. This is in addition to two new mobile police stations which will be introduced later this year. This is fantastic for our area, and thank you to all the members of the police and other emergency services who keep us safe, day in, day out.

As ever, if you are a constituent of South Northamptonshire and need my help please contact me by phone or by email as above.
