Visit to Siemens Blade Factory

Yesterday I got the chance to see the new site for Siemens blade manufacturing and wind turbine assembly facility in Hull at the Alexandra docks.

The £310 million investment will provide a huge boost to the UK’s offshore wind industry and the Humber region, creating up to 1,000 jobs directly, with additional jobs during construction and indirectly in the supply chain.

I am very grateful to Finbarr Dowling, Siemens Project Director, for showing me round the development and explaining how it will all come together. It was also a pleasure to have the opportunity to visit my colleague Martin Vickers, the MP for Cleethorpes, and speak with stakeholders at a roundtable about the energy opportunities across the region.
