Reflections on my time as Business Secretary and in Government
It has been a real privilege to serve in Government for the last six years and as Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy for six months.
I am particularly proud of my work in BEIS on net zero, the countdown to COP in Glasgow later this year and striving to make the UK the best place in the world to work and grow a business.
It has been fantastic to work with such a talented Ministerial team – Kwasi, Chris, Kelly, Nadhim and Ian – and our excellent PPS duo Craig Tracey MP and David Duguid MP.
And thank you to my excellent SPADs Marc and Sam for their unstinting hard work – they are true public servants.
Throughout my time in Government I have been committed to representing the interests of my constituents and I am looking forward to continuing to represent them and South Northamptonshire in Parliament.
I will continue to campaign on the issues that are part of my manifesto for South Northamptonshire:
Infrastructure: delivery of the Towcester relief road, delivery of the Farthinghoe bypass, holding the Government to account on HS2 and continuing to support affected constituents and stakeholders
Rail: ensuring that the conditions of the Northamptonshire Gateway SRFI are adhered to
Health: a new vision for healthcare in Towcester including the opening of the new Brackley Medical Centre and the expansion of primary healthcare services
Babies: the first 1001 days are a critical period and I will continue to ensure that all babies have the best possible start in life
Broadband: continue to ensure that my constituents have access to superfast broadband
Salcey Forest: continue to push for the treetop walk to be reopened!
There can be no greater honour than to serve community and country, and I will continue to do so with pride.
