Decarbonisation App for families and young people
Tackling climate change and making the UK a greener, cleaner place to live and work can only be achieved by us all working together.
There’s no doubt that citizens across the UK are eager to do their bit to reduce their carbon footprint and get involved with making their daily lives and local environment ‘green.’
Whilst at BEIS, I commissioned our social media team to build a new app aimed at younger audiences to provide practical advice and tips on how individuals and families can take action against climate change.
I am looking forward to seeing the launch at the time of Green GB and NI week, which I hope will also be a great opportunity for engaging with young people to explain what government is doing, and how they can also help by taking action in their own lives.
Working with schools, universities and voluntary groups such as Scouts and Guides will help young people to contribute positively to the widely shared ambition of a zero carbon future both in the UK and further afield. A second phase of the app, which will be designed to help businesses and the public sector, could be developed by young climate scientists and tech engineers. There is a great deal of potential!
