Andrea Leadsom Thanks GPs for 63 million Additional Appointments

With huge thanks to all our brilliant GPs, nurses and healthcare professionals working tirelessly in general practice, the latest figures in our plan to recover access to primary care show nearly 63 million more GP appointments were delivered in the 12 months to March 2024 than March 2019 – roughly 260,000 extra per working day.

There are also more than 47,000 doctors in general practice (37,000 FTE). That’s almost 4,300 (2,700 FTE) more than March 2019.

There are also more than 48,000 FTE direct patient care staff working across practices and primary care networks. That’s over 36,000 more than March 2019.
