UPDATE ON A5 AND A508 WORKS

UPDATE ON A5 AND A508 WORKS

Many constituents have contacted me about the poor state of the A5 towards Milton Keynes and I provided an update a couple of weeks ago detailing improvement works that will be carried out by National Highways, beginning on the 13th February.

I was concerned, however, to hear that there are road closures of the A508 planned during the same time period as these works to facilitate the development of the SRFI at Northampton Gateway.

So I contacted Victoria Lazenby, Head of Planning and Operations for the Midlands Division at National Highways, who has confirmed the following:

“We recognise that there are lots of different sets of works planned in and around Towcester, over the next few months, and are liaising closely with WNC to make sure that the impact to customers is minimised. We carry out weekly meetings to review road space issues in the area, and discuss more frequently if required for example if there have been any unforeseen delays to works. Current plans will not result in the A5 and A508 being closed at the same time, and we will continue to monitor and liaise with WNC to make sure that this remains the situation.“
