Homes for Ukraine Thank You Payment Update

Across South Northamptonshire, many families have welcomed Ukrainian guests into their homes and into their lives.

Since the start of the Homes for Ukraine Scheme, the council has provided a monthly ‘thank you’ payment to host families who can accommodate Ukrainian guests.

The payment has now been lifted to £550 per month, and hosts will continue to receive payments for as long as they sponsor somebody (up to 12 months). It is made in arrears.

I hope that this increase might enable more residents in South Northants to sign up as hosts to sponsor Ukrainians - many more are looking for a safe place to go at a time when Ukraine is suffering from extreme cold as well as the vicious bombardment of Russian forces, destroying power sources and many homes.

There is an excellent team at the council who are helping to place Ukrainians with UK hosts, and my office would also be pleased to help if you think you can become a host.
