#StandWithUkraine - 1 Year On
Today we mark 1 year since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Putin’s brutal actions have changed the lives of many Ukrainians forever, and across the world, the effects of the attack continue to be felt.
Many in South Northamptonshire have opened their hearts and their homes for Ukrainian refugees, welcoming them to our local area and providing sanctuary and support. Churches like the Tove Benefice have arranged 1300 mile humanitarian aid journeys from Towcester to Lviv, providing generators, food and essential media supplies. Fundraising efforts by community groups, schools and other individuals have contributed hugely to emergency funds, relief efforts and morale.
Like many families in South Northamptonshire, I sponsored a Ukrainian family seeking shelter from the war. It was an experience that I will not forget and I am proud to have played my part supporting Ukraine in their fight for freedom.
Like my colleagues and many constituents I will continue to #StandWithUkraine.
