Brexit Public Meeting
Last Saturday, I held another public meeting in Brackley for residents who have questions about Brexit or who just wanted an update from me on where we are.
The meeting was really well attended again, with 100 people filling Brackley Town Hall to its capacity. It was a lively morning, mostly well-tempered, and made more colourful by the lady who turned up with the banner, although I didn’t agree with the sentiments it expressed…!
Questions included the opportunities of our future relationship with the EU and with other countries around the world; preparations for no deal Brexit; the border between the Republic of Ireland and the UK; respecting the democratic will of the people and whether Brexit is being frustrated; the availability of medicines from Europe; and immigration levels after we leave.
I was pleased to be able to speak to residents again about Brexit, and to try and assuage some of the concerns that people have. But it is important to give the absolute assurance that we are leaving the EU on the 29th March 2019, and I am determined that we will make a huge success of the future opportunities that are presented by Brexit.
