Value for Money Update 2020
In my effort to be as transparent as possible about my work and how your money is spent, I wanted to take this opportunity to provide an update on my parliamentary expenses for the last financial year (April 2019 to March 2020).
I do not claim any expenses for my accommodation in South Northamptonshire or Westminster, nor for any travel costs to and from Westminster nor for any costs incurred on my constituency business.
I run my office on a tight budget but with a view to making sure my team can deal with the workload efficiently - I am conscious of the need to be very careful with taxpayers' money. I spent £18,189.26 on office costs (including rent for my constituency office, printing, stationery, etc). My staff (a team of 5 full and part time staff, including my constituency Apprentice Caseworker claimed £5,337.78 in travel between Westminster and South Northamptonshire.
Over the course of the year, I have written over 10,000 emails and letters in response to enquiries from over 7,200 constituents.
In addition, my team and I have also worked hard throughout the Coronavirus pandemic to support people, families and businesses across South Northamptonshire. It has been the busiest period we have ever had, responding to over a thousand e-mails and phone enquiries per week at the height of the lockdown.
I will continue to work hard to provide the best service and value for money that I can for South Northamptonshire.
