Andrea Leadsom Hails Introduction of the Tobacco and Vapes Bill
Today we have introduced the Tobacco and Vapes Bill to Parliament.
Those born on or after 1st January 2009 will never be legally sold tobacco - protecting young people from becoming addicted to smoking
Children should not be vaping - this Bill will stop vapes being deliberately targeted at children through tough fines for rogue traders.
We also plane to ban disposable vapes which are a scourge on our environment, and we will introduce an excise duty on vaping products.
Two thirds of smokers die early because they smoke - that’s 80,000 people a year. This Government is taking tough action to make the next generation smokefree.
