An exciting opportunity to serve the people of South Northamptonshire has become available in my Towcester office.

I am recruiting for a full-time Senior Casework Team Leader, with the role focused on managing constituency casework, ensuring that constituents receive a timely and empathetic response, as well as line managing junior team members.

The successful applicant will have at least 2 years’ experience of casework or in a similar role and be able to work well in a small team as well as independently. Outstanding written and oral communication skills are essential, as is the ability to manage a large caseload by implementing and continually improving office processes. Local knowledge of South Northamptonshire is highly desirable.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Assisting with surgeries and other meetings and following up as appropriate

  • Engaging professionally, confidentially with care and integrity with members of the public, through telephone enquiries, social media, emails and face to face

  • Ensuring all cases are logged; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken

  • Ensuring records are kept and information managed confidentially and in line with data protection legislation

  • Exercising a high level of autonomy in reaching decisions on cases based on the evidence

  • Liaising with Government agencies, voluntary sector and others to resolve constituency matters

  • Managing a large caseload of complex cases, working in a professional, confidential, caring and sensitive manner

  • Researching local, regional or national issues to support MPs' work

  • Supervising other members of staff including coaching and mentoring

  • There may be requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal hours and travel for work occasionally
