HS2 begins formal construction

HS2 received Notice to Proceed earlier this year, and today the formal start of construction has been announced.

 In our area, this means that construction of the route from the South Portal will begin. Work notifications are continuing in the Brackley and Greatworth areas, as well as between Thorpe Mandeville and Culworth, and Edgcote, Chipping Warden, Aston Le Walls and Boddington. These include archaeology works, ground investigation work, heave cutting and associated road closures.

I have always been clear in my opposition to HS2. It brings no benefit to South Northamptonshire and its construction continues to bring deep distress, disruption and life changing impacts to those constituents who are adversely affected by the route. As this project goes ahead, I will continue to raise the objections of my constituents with the HS2 Minister, Andrew Stephenson MP and the Government, as well as standing up for those individuals whose homes and businesses are affected by the construction of HS2.
