Visit to Bambooh Day Nursery, Middleton Cheney
Last week I paid a visit to Bambooh Day Nursery in Middleton Cheney.
Bambooh is a family run nursery for infants and children aged 0-4, and is run by its Director, Milè Husselmann. Open all year round, 24 children are currently enrolled at the nursery, and it is located in beautiful surroundings close to the centre of the village.
It is always a delight to meet these tiny people, and to see how secure and happy they seem. Their learning theme of the week was ‘fruit,’ and the children were reading The Hungry Caterpillar- a firm favourite of so many!
With the staff team, we discussed the need for better incentives to attract nursery staff to work in the sector. The Early Years course at Northampton University offers a fantastic opportunity to gain a qualification and relevant experience to work in childcare. We also discussed funding for the youngest children, and the work of the Early Years Healthy Development Review and the Vision for the Best Start for Life. Family Hubs were a particularly interesting discussion point, and It was also good to discuss the importance of sleep and hydration – both key needs for parents and babies!
