Visit to the Digital Manufacturing Centre, Silverstone

Our local area is a leader in manufacturing and tech, and it was a real pleasure to visit the Digital Manufacturing Centre, a newly operational state-of-the-art manufacturing facility located near Silverstone earlier this week. Using additive manufacturing (3D printing) and other cutting-edge processes, the DMC is set to be one of the most advanced production facilities in the UK.

The DMC has been made possible with significant investment from the Government via the local growth fund, SEMLEP. With a focus on novel production processes – like additive manufacturing (AM) – and digital connectivity, DMC will help to form a crucial element of the UK supply chain for the aerospace, space, defence, motorsport, automotive, medical device and industrial sectors. Advanced manufacturing processes and technology are not only vital to the future of these industries, but also to national security.
