St Luke’s C of E Primary School Duston
I was delighted to be invited by Google to attend their “Be An Internet Legend” Assembly Briefing at St Luke’s Primary. The Google and Parent Zone’s Be internet Legends programme is designed to help 7 – 11 year old pupils become safe and more confident explorers of the online world. Google gave a fun, interactive presentation to the school and we all learned together how to stay safe and confident online through the adventures of cartoon character PIP. He taught us all to be:
Sharp - think before you click or share – if unsure don’t share
Alert - check if it's real and ask your parent or carer
Secure - protect your stuff and don’t give away your password
Kind - respect one another and be nice
Brave - If in doubt always discuss with an adult you trust like a parent/carer/teacher/ aunt or uncle
A safe password must always be 8 characters or more to be strong and include upper and lower case letters as well as with a symbol or number for the best protection. PIP also taught us to be careful when sending emojis as they can be taken the wrong way! Thank you, St Luke’s and Google for inviting me to this informative afternoon.
